Business and Research

FUNCTIONS

The Business & Research Unit tracks clubhouse statistics, performs word processing as well as a whole host of clerical duties.

CLUB STATISTICS:

We track daily, evening and weekend attendance. Calculations are performed in our Clubhouse database.

TECHNICAL/CREATIVE WRITING:

We publish a daily newsletter “News at Noon”, which includes standard of the day, clubhouse announcements, transitional employment openings, luncheon menu, birthday wishes and a quote of the day. We also publish a monthly newsletter titled “Genesis Alive” which includes: articles, clubhouse news, unit updates, and members who are working. We are also mass e-mailing our newsletter to other clubhouses and individuals that wish to receive our newsletter.

PHONE OPERATOR:

The operator is responsible for answering a 6-line phone system during hours of operation. The operator is also responsible for checking and distributing in-coming faxes and mail.

CASH CLERK:

The cash clerk is responsible for changing money, selling WRTA E/D bus passes, meal tickets and stamps to clubhouse members.

CLERICAL/COMPUTER:

The unit is responsible for typing, copying and filing. We also update the database, create flyers and additional mailings. We order office supplies (copier, fax, paper, cartridges, etc. weekly order) and file newsletters from other Clubhouses.

FISCAL:

The Fiscal component is responsible for deposits, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, bank statement reconciliation, payroll and general ledger.

OUTREACH:

Some of the tasks the unit performs are: sending cards, processing outreach sheets and making apartment visits. The unit also provides supports to help members gain more independent living. We receive funding through the department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

I.T. SERVICES:

Our IT Services are being provided by members and staff who are part of the I.T. Committee. They take care of the network administration, upkeep and troubleshooting of the in house computer systems and databases.
