In 1997, The Genesis Club had the opportunity to attend a Mental Health Candle Light Vigil at Elm Park in Worcester, MA. During this time, the Members and Staff at Genesis Club rewrote the lyrics to a popular folk song "Will The Circle Be Unbroken".
This Candlelight Vigil was for the communty to remember individuals with mental illness that had passed away at Worcester State Hopspital. Many Genesis Members and Staff attended the event.
Now this song has grown into a true Genesis Club tradition.
At least once month, when our International Collegues depart, you will see Members and Staff gather to sing this song.
Often it is a bit more upbeat that the initial incarnation, but it still is a way for our communty to think of the Genesis friends that we love and miss.

Chorus:
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord, by and by
There is hope here and its growing
If we try Lord if we try.
There are people all around us
Whose sweet form we often miss
With the weight of that mighty stigma
That just has no usefulness
In that blindness that’s mental illness
There’s a place where you can go.
There is a light inside each person
And here’s a place to let it show.
All alone the candle flickers,
But together darkness fades.
Our light is our truths united,
In our hope, foundations laid.
Hand in hand we face the future
Proud of how far we have come.
Come and join us here in the circle
There is still work to be done.
