Colleague Training
Colleague training is an opportunity to learn about and experience Clubhouse philosophy, culture, relationships, and the day-to-day operations of a Clubhouse model.

WHO:  An interested Clubhouse/Agency should plan to send a combination of staff and members for regional training.  It is recommended that the administrator of your agency join you for the last week of your training.
WHEN:  Training sessions are offered throughout the year, by reservation.
LODGING:  You will be staying at our beautiful, Victorian-style Training Center which is included in your tuition.
In General
The training enables colleagues to immerse themselves in the Clubhouse community.  The time will give colleagues a solid background in the basic Clubhouse mechanics.  How does a work unit run?  What is the philosophy of a Clubhouse?  What are Staff/member relations?  What is transitional employment and how does it work?  This will be accomplished through the training curriculum that has been developed by the International Center for Clubhouse Development over the past ten years.

The curriculum includes participation in Genesis work units, an opportunity to become involved in the transitional employment program, developing a Clubhouse housing component, and ample time to discuss Clubhouse ideas and issues.

A site visit to a nearby Clubhouse will be included to enable colleagues to see different Clubhouse scenarios.  We also provide a series of readings that complement the colleagues' day-to-day Clubhouse experience.  Even more importantly, however, is that a two- or three-week long session truly allows colleagues to develop relationships with the staff and the members of Genesis Club.  These relationships are the heart of any quality Clubhouse.  They cannot be taught, they must be experienced.

Directors’ Seminar                                                                   $ 1,200 USD
Directors of clubhouses hold a pivotal yet solitary position in the success of any clubhouse. Genesis Club and Fountain House are jointly sponsoring a seminar in fall 2018 (September 10 – September 13) for Clubhouse directors in Worcester Massachusetts.  Its goal is to provide a forum for directors to share ideas and best practices among each other in an atmosphere that builds solidarity.  Discussions on issues central to operating a successful clubhouse (e.g. branding, staff development, alliances, fund raising, research, etc.) will be addressed within an American economic and social context. Unique to the experience will be the contributions of two accomplished Clubhouses directors, who will be actively leading discussions. Ultimately, we look to each of you in providing a vision for mental health services in your home communities. As participants, you will be responsible for sharing ideas and concerns, the training fee, and travel.  Tuition includes one Director for the week-long training.
